Lyrics

In this system of things, I feel a melancholy crawl through my hair
My temples laid bare, my skin frail and thin
To see the potential for schadenfreude
My wish for it to burn
For anarchy to reign
But still somehow I'm hurting
The loss of something comfortable
The evil that I know
It calls me to me on serpents tongues
A whisper and a scream

I dream of purging
But as it crumbles around me
Begrudgingly thanking the one who broke it
I pray for his death

Ask not how he lived
But how many he took with him
As he spiralled into death
Exposing rotten flesh

Empires rise and fall, and never do they surpass
The metric of morality, their evils are their excess
In abundance and fortitude, power and corruption hold hands
Those trodden and sacrificed are the innocent, designated trash
Fuel for the machine, the pulse of the despotic chains
Whipping and grinding, subduing and dividing
The human that once was is divided into currency
Their value determined and understood
Drained and aspirated into engines as lubricant for the ones in command

I dream of purging

I dream of purging
But as it crumbles around me
Begrudgingly thanking the one who broke it
I pray for his death

Ask not how he lived
But how many he took with him
As he spiralled into death
Exposing rotten flesh

How can I hide my face
Destruction is assured, but not like this
My dreams of equal power, equal resource, equal access
This time we have no choice, as the one above decides

Concentrated power, dehumanizing efforts
He throws away the power that we held across the world
Weakened in the eyes of despots and kings
Is that not what I wanted? No, not like this
A power vacuum will lead to conflict and death
As other empires feast upon the carcass of this world
The nations grow and subdivide the individual

Ask not how he lived
But how many he took with him
As he spiralled into death
Exposing rotten flesh
