Review of this EP by Karolina Kratochwil at ALTERNATION.EU:

Synaptic Defect - Lost EP
"The new EP by Synaptic Defect, titled Lost, is a raw, dark electro mini-odyssey — where distorted vocals meet noise-infused, metallic textures that pierce like sharpened steel. It's a collision of chaos and control, where pulsing beats soften the jagged edges just enough to let the tracks breathe, but never enough to let them rest.
Right from the opening track, "Lost (rough)", we’re thrown into a turbulent soundscape — overdriven vocals, crunchy noise, and samples that seem to haunt rather than narrate. It's intense and deliberate, offering little relief but plenty of electricity. The remix that closes the EP, "Lost (DARKMECHANIC-Remix)", takes the aggression even further — gliding on layers of drifting, spatial distortion. It feels bigger, colder, almost cinematic. The cover art echoes this: a lonely, shadowy figure in a ruined industrial hall. Who is lost here? And what have they wandered into?
But the most striking moment of the release is "Phoebe" — a cosmic anthem soaked in electronics and mystery. Built around samples that sound like NASA commentary, it’s a track that doesn’t just describe space, it feels like it. Dedicated to Saturn’s distant moon Phoebe, the song captures something haunting and otherworldly. Phoebe itself is one of Saturn’s most fascinating irregular moons — dark, distant, retrograde in orbit, possibly a captured Centaur from the outer solar system. It doesn’t reflect much light, but carries immense scientific value due to its primordial origin. The track mirrors this beautifully: vast, minimal, humming with the eerie poetry of the unknown. There’s something deeply evocative about this moment — dark electro leaving the basement and reaching for the stars, but without losing its grit."
