Farvefisen blomstrer by Sweet Banditry

Sweet Banditry, formed by Danish saxophonist and vocalist Louise Dam Eckardt Jensen in New York City, presents a debut album erupting with energies from all angles. Jensen, normally a saxophonist, concentrates on composition and vocalizations in her new quartet consisting of some of the most cutting edge musicians in the New York avant-garde scene. Jensen's lyrics, in her native Danish, offer scathing indictments of contemporary Danish and Western society while the rest of the band blast through Jensen's compositions, obliterating past rock and roll ideals before building them up again into something new. The lyrics and artwork (also Jensen's) are inspired by controversial Danish artist and filmmaker Jens Jørgen Thorsen's ideas and personality, perhaps best exhibited by the CD image which features the band's name scribbled onto Jensen's pregnant belly.

A convulsive panoply of post-rock, punk and free improvised sounds, their debut presents all of the spoils one would expect from bandits back from a fresh musical raid.
