It was as if the forces of nature favored the avenger who had risen from the dead. The moon and stars lighted his way in the night, and the rain extinguished the fire that Prakh’s warriors had lit on their arrows. Lightning struck each of them, clearing the way to the one for whom Yavul had come. In Prakh’s bewildered eyes the dead man of yesterday saw powerlessness and pain. And when the defeated sorcerer was pierced, not by a sword, but by Yavul’s hand doused with Sheptun’s potion, the smoke from his rapidly rotting body covered everything around him.
