SONGLINES

my ancestors traveled the land
along the ancient tracks made of song
they sang the songs
that have been passed on to them
my father taught me these songs
how to dream the tracks and how
to travel along invisible lines called the songlines

we nomads migrate singing song cycles
summon the marks that mark the landmarks
we navigate singing and the land sings back
and in exchange we all get to live

that is the land and the story and the dream
that is the past and the present and the future
that is the dance and the spirit and the sounds
that is the birds and the stones and the clouds
