Trance by SUN SPEAK

TRANCE is the fifth release from instrumental duo SUN SPEAK. After years of developing finely-tuned compositions and a near-telepathic interplay, the duo sought to entangle the writing and recording processes to create a suite of music steeped in freewheeling improvisation but rooted in melody. Along with keyboardist and engineer Dan Pierson, the duo recorded two weeks of improvisations in a remote northeastern cabin; through editing and post-production, they retained the “first-take” energy of the selections while applying intensive manipulation to create layered sonic environments. The result is a startlingly ecstatic and aggressively dynamic set of immersive texture, pulse, and song.
