鹿踊りへのオマージュ
花巻・春日流鹿踊りの演目「一番庭」から採譜した唄と太鼓のリズムを基に着想した６つの楽章の作品。宮沢賢治生誕120年記念コンサートの為に2016年作曲。

Homage to Deer Dance
This work of six movements was written, inspired by the rhythm and songs from Sato's transciption of the performance "The First Garden" of Hanamaki Kasuga-style deer dance, Composed in 2016 for a concert commemorating the 120th anniversary of Kenji Miyazawa's birth.

南部牛追い唄変奏曲
岩手の民謡の旋律を多様なスタイルで展開させた作品。各楽章は能の演目「五番立」から採られたもの。「南部」とは旧南部藩（現在の岩手県）を指す。

Variations of Nanbu Cow-herding Song
This work develops the melody of Iwate folk songs in various styles.
Each title was taken from the program of Noh play. 'Nanbu' is a former name of Iwate prefecture.

Sumiko Sato is a Composer/Pianist, who finished her doctorate at the University of Washington in composition. She performs and arranges contemporary/classical works in diverse styles, also improvises freely.
Her works have been performed in US, Canada and Brazil.
ワシントン大学大学院音楽学部作曲科卒業。博士号取得。
国際ロータリー財団奨学生として渡米後、約９年間シアトルで作曲・ピアノを学ぶ。
多様なジャンルを融合し、民俗的な要素を採り入れた作曲と演奏活動を国内外で展開。
作品はノースウェスト交響楽団等によって公演されている。
