I wake up in the morning, had a restful night
dreamed of pleasant things, no nightmares were in sight
shuffle to the bathroom on my shaky legs
then go to the kitchen to boil some breakfast eggs

toasted bread is ready, Earl Grey in the pot
honey, ham and butter, coffee’s also hot
wanna hear some music so I turn the radio on
’twas a big mistake, my perfect day was gone!

its ever-deafening noise sounds nearly like a cry

I flee away in panic back to my peaceful home
the road I need to take looks like an autodrome
cars and trailers, motorbikes, hoverboards and trucks
that mobility just plain and simply sucks!

fifteen building workers, two diggers and a crane
demolition hammers fill Carnation Lane
shovels, picks and drills – construction’s boon and bane
stop that chronic noise or we’ll become insane – we’ll become insane!
