Alone (together) by stillefelt

Chris Mapp - bass (recorded on 13th may 2020)

This performance was put together from three remote recordings. Chris posted a series of instructions to Tom and Percy in the form of a one page score. Percy and Tom were asked to record their parts separately with no knowledge of what each other had played/were playing. They were asked to imagine that we were playing together as a trio, playing and leaving spaces as if we were performing in the same room together.

Once this step was complete, Chris played the two recordings simultaneously whilst improvising his part in real-time as if the other two were in the room. This was recorded and the result is what is presented here.

No overdubs, edits or trickery! Just three musicians exploring the possibilities of connecting and improvising in a time of physical distancing through music and imagination.
