Dialogue by AKA Alice

At the turn of the 1990s, Alice had begun to reinvent itself by expanding their improvisatory approach to song construction and the continued welcoming of new ideas and voices- Alice became AKA Alice, a place between where they were and where they were going.

Featured here is the voice and words of Kim Kelly with observations up against a beatnik backing, forming an intimate reveal of the time it was.

As always, Yamaha 4-track cassette recorders were the mobile studio with the gist of the songs recorded live; remaining finishing augmentation added later from distant spaces and times. Modern digital magic-ery allowed for ultimate cleanup and sweetening for proper presentation.

Stick uh Butter is the production library of musicians / artists during the 1980s and 90s. Headed by the core of Baird, Malinoski, Weaver -known then as Alice and currently as Pipestem- here is recorded evidence of those groups of like minds and their experiments, expressions and musical adventures that spread beyond KY from New England to AZ and beyond.
