Environs by Steve Whitehouse

This is a pairing of two ambient pieces. These are both inspired by locations where I've spent much time and whose ambience is very strong for me. Whilst aiming at a common goal, structurally these are very different: the first is an improvised piece played on fretless bass, and the second is a long form piece that is a combination of conventional composition, improvisation and generative programming. I hope the sense of place comes through for you as strongly as it does for me.

Steve is a composer and multi-instrumentalist whose music combines classic electronica with evolving patterns and textures from the ambient and minimalist worlds. His works include solo albums, collaborations and film soundtracks.
