Dissolution by Steve Whitehouse

These days I find myself being the witness to the disintegration of many of the anchors that underpin my perspective calling into question what I always considered to be a pretty well understood ontology. It's both an exciting and disturbing experience. The first five tracks of this album explore through a mixture of improvisation, cyclic minimalism and ambient, different feelings and images that are coming through for me as part of this.

The final track - "Soliloquy" - is one that's been looking for a home since 2018. It started out as the coming together of some motifs I built and - completely separately - a poem I wrote some years ago. The two seemed to click together very well, so I built a track around them. This itself was interesting as I was working within limitations: I no longer had the project files for the motif, only a brief recording that I tidied up and upon which I laid embellishments. So that left a track with no home where it stayed for four years. I had just finished the new album when I came across the master for the track and listening to it found it was a perfect fit for the theme of the album, and so here it is, track six of a five track album.
