Brittany from Ensemble Pieces by Steven McDaniel

Back in 2012 I stayed with friends in Brittany who live in the middle of nowhere, on the river ‘Le Blavet’. I love that place, and while soaking up the local sights and sounds of water and woods and rural life, loads of melodies and musical fragments occurred to me that I frantically sang into my phone. Back home, I used those notes and memories and composed my first symphony ever! (yeah, I know, it’s really a ‘sonata’ or just ‘ridiculously long’). Nine years later, I think I’ve finally got it to sound about right.
