working and playing with this music opened my imagination to a story.
once upon a long ago time i was gifted a box.
lifting its lid i saw that it was entirely (perhaps even impossibly) black inside.
there were no edges.
and then i saw on the underside of the lid of the box, a piece of paper.
i pulled the paper away from its gluey restraints and on the paper was written “ climb in ... and close the lid after you”.
the box fit in the palm of my hand.
common sense suggested, i couldn’t fit into its tiny space.
this couldn’t be done.
nevertheless after a lot of thought and preparation
i placed the box on the ground and carefully edged a few toes into its confines.
i found my body feeling as if it was on the sharp downwards slope of a rollercoaster.
and then i felt the new and similarly disconcerting and eventually reassuring to me feeling of my body gathering itself together accordion-like as my body arrived and caught up with my already present - presence.
i could see nothing, until i took a cautious first step at which moment, sounds emerged and colours and as i stepped forward or backward, new sounds and colours filled the air, my ears, my eyes.
maps would have been of little value to me as i could see nothing. but each step brought into my ears and eyes a gift of sound and colour. and to be truthful, i made a game of my moving around in the utter darkness. because i love gifts. colourful sounds that are little boxes in and of themselves . . .

our "process" is quite simple in that christopher sends me packets of treated sounds and i have carte blanche to work and play with them and add whatever else i want to add. a pretty sweet deal i say!!!
