atoll by ottmar soulier and steven leak
ottmar and i met initially through a mutual admiration and love of the music of jon hassell. "atoll" is a music project that has emerged from our connection with "the forever moment", a band i share with texan multi-instrumentalist (but primarily warr guitar player) mark cook and to which ottmar contributed on our latest album "splay". the track ottmar contributed to is entitled "java current". i really love that track so i created some soundscapes and asked ottmar if he'd be interested in working and playing with them.
happily he was all in . . . .
the results are here in the form of "atoll"
we have plans to welcome whatever music comes our way.

i ran many of the signals from these two synths through Red Panda Tensor and Particle pedals, a TC Infinite pedal, a Zoom multiplex pedal. i also incorporated a koshi wind chime, tuned wine glasses, oven rack, bear bell, and other found objects and sounds. all of this was at some time or another, live-room recorded onto a Zoom H4N.
