dub.tape by Steven Lambke
"dub.tape" is not meant as either title or description, but from the beginning of making this music i imagined it on cassette - an unexpected homage, tribute, postlude to the collection of grey cassette tapes i had as a teenager, dubbed copies of punk, noise, and folk songs: i'd play them on a battery operated boombox squeezed between the front seats of the battered old volkswagon rabbit i inherited from my older brother, turned up loud over the rattle of the diesel engine, squealing codes and signals of distant, expansive thoughts and ways of being, feedback guitars and (im)possible poetry. a model of praise and dedication.
this music was made quickly, with simple tools: only a borrowed bass (thanks lysh!!), a plastic recorder, two small shakers from the dollar store, and an 8 inch tambourine. now, as then, speeding through the darkness searching for loud joy and strange beauty.
my thanks for any moment of time you may spend with me in this way.
