Stereonoise Exp was formed in Cagliari in the summer of 2010 when multi-instrumentalist Carlo Spera, eclectic trumpeter Mario Massa, and classically trained pianist Stefano Rachel met. By the end of autumn, the band's founding ideas had taken shape with the album “Myo,” an eclectic and psychedelic work consisting of 10 tracks vaguely inspired by Miles Davis' posthumous album “Doo Bop” and a certain type of Northern European electronic jazz, but even more closely linked to Mediterranean colors and scents. MYO is a character from the title of the Lotus Sutra that conveys the concepts of “Openness,” “Regeneration,” and “Search.” It is the Land of Buddha. The group combines Carlo Spera's rhythms and bass lines, almost dance-inspired, with Mario Massa's penetrating trumpet effects and Stefano Rachel's melodic but poignant piano. Also important is the collaboration with electronic musician, DJ, and VJ Alessandro Pintus for his penetrating and innovative video contributions during live performances. In 2024, Stereonoise Exp, with singer and actress Mixafortuna on vocals and lyrics, released their second album “Long distance love” (SMF – 2024), which was more oriented towards funk and electro-pop than its predecessor.
