She said it wouldnt matter
How she handled your case
What really made her worried was
The look on your face

The lines round your eyes
The lines round your years
The stone cold silence
And the look of your fears

She said it wasn't pretty
It's been the family curse
You didn't have to tell her
You'd only make it worse

You saw how it affected her
She reacted with dread
You knew how it would follow her
And even then she said:

Uncle, please don't fret
Please don't cry
We'll make this go away
At least we will try

I've known you since my childhood
And I know you as a man
We'll simply carry forward
And make ourselves a plan

You said we need to hurry
It wont make any sense
If we wait around til morning
It'll get too intense

I'll have to take some measures
You wont like what I do
I might end up a memory ...
And so might you

She looked at you and blanched
She realized what you'd done
And in that moment came the truth
And knew we'd have to run

All of us, all of us
We have no time to waste ...
But with her back to both of us
She told us to make haste

You aren't going with us?
I asked her in surprise
She turned and shook her head
