History from Thoughtlines by Stephen Richard Thomas Brown

History is about, well, History in it's past, present and future entirety.

Once upon a time, when I used to be a rather committed and devout believer, a friend once said to me "History is really His Story", that is to say all of Human History is God's Story unfolded within the context of people's very real lives over countless centuries, even millennia. Well, that all sounds a little to simplistic in the final analysis because we all know how actual Human History has turned out: lots of "Blood, Guts and Gore" to satisfy even the most inveterate of war-mongering gods, dictators, generals, popes, priests and politicians, soldiers and civilians... If History is, in fact, "His Story" as my once upon a time friend told me so long ago, well, what a Bloody History it has all been and still continues to be. I am utterly disgusted by such an abhorrent catch phrase as that which I have related above.

In any case, reading about and studying history, even as an arm-chair enthusiast, reveals such a vast domain of really engaging and enlightening facts and philosophies of life and death.

I must admit that, in the middle of this piece, my Spoken Word degenerates into some comical and zany reflections of rather ridiculous ideas, but this aspect of my personality is part of who I am, so I needed to express even this as belonging to my take on History.
