Into Eternity by Stave & Karim Maas
Standards & Practices is proud to present the new full-length collaborative release from Stave & Karim Maas, "Into Eternity". Comprised of material that emerged from a particularly fruitful session following their first collaborative effort ("Godless", on the Bristol-based imprint UVB-76), their second LP picks up where that release left off with eight tracks of sleek and brutal bass & breaks music, demonstrating the same kind of disciplined rigor, focus, and attention to detail that characterized their first collaboration together.
From the terse, sinuous opener "Invaders Will Die (The Falling Tsar)" - which moves and prowls like a snake stalking its prey, to the low-slung and corrosive "Liar" and "For A Shaking Mind" (both of which brings to mind some of Mick Harris's work as Scorn), the entire set has a sustained atmosphere of existential dread and brooding menace that is difficult to shake.
