Lyrics
After a garnish of mint
I sit at sunshine's table
and eat my curry,
Fennel, carrots and beets
cooked on a bed of onions.
The vibrant colours of turmeric
and chilies
contrast, in no plain manner,
California's dark pond, (that is) soft-pressed wine.
My heart, calmed by ginger root,
is at the same time, excited by plump garlic
and bees,
who make their way from nastursium's moons
to the fragrance of that spice-laden plate.
Cumin and dill, they discover
accompany mustard seeds and cinnamon;
and they are correct,
in this way I tempered the oil.
After my morning disciplines
the sun leaps over the tree-barrier
with fantastic gifts.
"Here you are Lacinato, Thyme, Tomato, Sage".
Lush and green, the garden-friends
receive warmth and sustenance
like a loving, nourishing hug.
Did you see them dancing, ever graceful?
That is all I have to say, let the rest of this poem
be told in your own quiet reflection
and perhaps, in the teachings of Jesus
