TRA 2 by TRA 2

In 2019, in an attempt to create an alternative to his usual source material for samples, I’m Dr Buoyant invited colleagues in the Spirit of Gravity and SafeHouse Collectives to contribute soundfiles for this purpose. The call was answered by McCloud, midierror, Noteherder and Ron Caines, providing recordings ranging from live saxophone and flute to electronic beats. This was a remote collaboration before lockdown even started.

The group is dubbed TRA 2, as the 2nd iteration of the TR Agency, an occasional gathering of artists brought together by I’m Dr Buoyant, the last having performed at the Dome Studio in 2013, featuring Ron Caines, Andrew Greaves and Nick Rilke.

After this material has been manipulated into these 10 tracks, some sounds may have been altered beyond recognition, but the results are both coherent and display some evidence of the characteristics of the varied original material.
