City Spheres by Spheruleus

City Spheres is an album by British producer Harry Towell who has been recording as Spheruleus since 2009. Harry has released music on labels such as Eilean, Hibernate Recs, Home Normal and his own label Whitelabrecs with a sound that is typically rooted in rustic and melancholy Ambient style.

The one slight variation on this was his work for French label Eilean Records, in which Harry began to incorporate more rhythmic aspects to his usually pastoral sound with jazz samples and downtempo drum patterns. In City Spheres, the Spheruleus sound is further developed along the lines of Peripheres although the theme is taken out of the fields and onto the lonely city streets. The tone still remains contemplative and loosely Ambient, whilst Harry hones into influences from the instrumental Hip-Hop, Electronica and Jazz scenes.

A couple of the 12 tracks from City Spheres have already appeared on compilations such as the Eilean label compilation and Touched Music's Macmillan fundraiser album. These two pieces along with Peter Nejedly's beautiful artwork provided the starting point for this album.
Recordings were taken in London, Marrakech and Sorrento during various vacations, vinyl samples were lifted and percussive loops were shaped as Spheruleus clicks into city mode.

Spheruleus is Lincolnshire, UK based artist Harry Towell. His work has been released on labels such as Under The Spire, Hibernate, Home Normal and Time Released Sound. The Spheruleus sound is produced using acoustic instruments, manipulated into timeworn, rustic and melancholy compositions.
