COSMONAUT by Space Age Dream Boy

it begins with the end.

when the field burned and all the whales passed away after the ending of City Lights, the only natural progression of the world was to end completely and crash itself into the sun. luckily, some polyhedric divinity took pity on us and recreated the world. we then entered the S P A C E A G E.

after the world was reborn, the Cosmonaut was forced to accept changes to his life (Leave, Space Age Dream Boy). in this strange transitioning phase, he met a girl (Imogen) whom he thought he could love. Imogen unfortunately only wanted to use him, and she left him in the dust, and she still returns to him in his darkest times. feeling lost, he returns himself to the old field of stars (I'll Be On My Way) to look for answers. he laments the loss of the field, but then moves on his way, leaving the field to rest forever.

for a second, he takes a brief intermission to relish in the beauty of life (Are You Aware?) and the fragility of everything before going back to his regularly scheduled programming. he once again spirals down and decides that the only logical thing for him to do would be to fly into space (Cosmonaut) to avoid speaking to anyone ever again. after this realization, Jackie, a figure from his past that he thought long gone comes back to confront him (Costume / Jackie's Song). he never gets closure with Jackie, and even after she escapes she leaves him confused and troubled.

all of a sudden, he enters a dissociative state. he watches the events of City Lights unfold in front of him again and again on a loop. he knows how it ends everytime, but there's nothing he can do about it. until one day.

all of a sudden, in this darkest hour, the SAVIOR comes to him (Are You An Angel, Savior). while her methods are unconventional, the Cosmonaut learns from her that he needs to stop sitting around feeling sorry for himself and do something with his life.

he goes and speaks to Bob Dylan, who advises him to make peace with everyone in the past and fly into space (There is Nothing). he says goodbye to everyone before leaving the atmosphere, never to be heard from again.

the Cosmonaut is the protagonist of this album, but there are other characters, such as Imogen (the antagonist), the Priest (the first love interest), the Shadow (the second love interest) Jackie (the rebel), the Savior (self-explanatory), the Angel (the figure from the past), and The New Bob Dylan (the prophet).

this album was made from (roughly) March / April 2023 to February 2024. easily the loosest structured recording sessions of any of the albums i've made, but probably the best end result. i am very proud of many of the songs on this one and I think it is the best produced album I have ever made.
