Losing sleep worrying about how my old flippy 2G phone will be so-much-junk in July (yes I am joshing with you) I struck out yesterday and hiked the quarter mile to John Lewis and on floor 4 spoke to a delightful young man called Tom - I thought that I would be learning tech-stuff from him, but it turned out that he did all the learning from me - he had no idea that John Lewis still do flipping texting dumbing phones - admittedly only online, they didn't have any in stock.
So instead of ordering it online at home, I ordered it with Tom and it is coming today and DHL's emails and texts say that it is coming today, that it is coming between 1-06pm and 2-06pm, that it needs to be signed for, that I am 63 in the queue and currently #13 is running to the front door to sign for something .... this is perhaps the first time I've had to hang around at home waiting for a delivery since the days of Covid when I had a weekly veg delivery and there was nothing else to do except hang around and also make soup.
Ah sigh no and no and no oh no is this why all the modern people are miserable - everyone is hanging around at home waiting for shite to be delivered ? I'd planned for this to be a walking day, the hottest May Day in all of recorded history or something - instead here I am indoors, lacking vitamin D, breathing in the city's finest exhaust - exhausted indeed and I'm not even doing anything, modern life is cabbage.
