After working together for many years in the formation Sotto in Su and other projects, Thomas Heberer and Frank Schulte began a duo project in 2001, which was then later expanded into the trio SSH in 2003.

The recordings presented here document their improvisational dialog inspired by themes of space, time and communication and the two artists' penchant for our relationship to the future and outer space, but also to their fascination with the visionary power and aesthetics of Stanley Kubrick's 1968 masterpiece "A Space Odyssey 2001", the year in which the recordings were made.
The title names refer to satellites we send out into space and their functions.

All tracks were recorded direct to two tracks at readymade studio Cologne between October and November 2001.

German sound creator Frank Schulte works in the fields of improvised music, new music, ambient, experimental electronics, develops expanded media performances and composes sound and music for theatre plays, movies and contemporary dance choreographies and develops intermedia installation for public spaces.
