Group Seizure were a kinetic square wave. I heard them after reissuing Mouth's Victim chant and spending time with Lindsay Gravina remastering that release. Much in the same way he played Dave Thomas the Mouth record ten years prior, Lindsay gave me a preview of Group Seizure's first EP and it had the same effect. I had no money but became obsessed with putting this recording out. I went to meet with them at 161 in Prahran one night when people still used to traverse the Yarra River to see live music. They were as gloriously erratic and blisteringly loud as I had hoped. The crowd comprised predominantly of art school nouveau post punk tragics waiting for the DJ's to start spinning Franz Ferdinand or Le Shok were pressed against the back of the room, recoiled in horror. We shook hands and this five song slab of static was released shortly thereafter.
I also put out their debut album Hybrid Vigour and they played around Melbourne for a couple more years, even incorporating a live drummer before calling it a day. Pete went on to play in Deaf Wish and then form the equally as great Spinning Rooms who you can see around Melbourne presently.
