confession for a lover far away
but now your allegory's stained and spoiled
so wringing out your cramps you start again
but failing to recall your invented idiom
you feel your words turn fake
the inky mess, a sullied wreck
reminds you of the confines of the day

staring upwards, you rise to your feet
push your chair in, let the stain set, go to sleep
