Slouching Sparrows by Slouching Sparrows
The debut self-titled release by Slouching Sparrows! A culmination of work written and recorded in 2024, comprising mostly of new songs but with a few oldies in there too (re-recorded in 'awe-inspiring' not-as-low-fi). This album sees Slouching Sparrows establishing their "Glue Wave" brand and finding their feet in the world of jangling guitar music. I can't say for certain if any feet were found, but it's hard to see your feet when you're slouching all the damn time.
"I recorded this album in the summer of 2024 in various back bedrooms and kitchens, wherever I could set up my heap of old recording equipment. I used a Tascam 8-Track digital portastudio to make it, along with a mountain of guitar pedals, a cruddy mic, and a guitar made in 1975. I had a blast, but I still don't know what I'm doing.
"This is the first proper Slouching Sparrows album, the tentative self-titled debut. The record is by no means perfect. In fact, there are plenty of mistakes and you'll probably spot them as you listen. If anybody asks, then these mistakes are intentional, a kind of revolt against sonic perfection (ha!).
"In truth, they're me finding my legs. I still haven't really found them but one day maybe. Looking back, I see this album as a phone box, you know what I mean? Like one that still has a phone in it. The phone doesn't work, there are spiders, someone has pissed up the wall, smashed a window... but at least they haven't put a defibrillator in it.
