The Shadow is always there. From the moment of your birth, reflected on the hospital walls, it's been intertwined with your very being and remains a 'memento mori reminder' throughout this life. The Shadow is, however, more than absence of light. It's not only a phenomena dependent on causality, but has its roots in a numinous darkness. It's also an independent part of our rather complex existence. The many parts constituting ”us” are often rendered quite few in esotericism drawn from monotheist religions. Older mystery traditions show a far more accurate understanding of our existence and the parts of which we are constituted. Those who fear Death and see Him as an enemy will never really live. Those who salute Death as their guide in life can penetrate the real depths of existence. The Shadow is both autonomous and interweaved with the other parts. When integrated and somewhere along down the Dark path, it becomes a door to the Other side.
