Lyrics
We are just humans, every one of us with flaws,
Exposed, endangered, to the reach of hatred’s jaws.
We seek inclusion, by society we’re defined,
The walls that we encounter, impact our very minds.
It’s human nature, to create an us vs. them,
Invent an enemy, a territory to defend.
Faith in a doctrine, a purpose for our lives,
One true religion, defined at least a dozen times.
All well intended, as a guide to better souls,
Sometimes co-opted to achieve another goal.
It’s human nature, to create an us vs. Them,
Invent an enemy, a territory to defend.
Delineations, are just lines that we create,
Imaginary boundaries, that we choose to designate.
Delineations, color well within the lines,
Though pain has hues that are not nearly so defined
We all are different, though our differences are slight,
Superficial changes, through DNA’s random flight.
Still we make up nations, races to separate,
All the while ignoring what together we could create.
It’s human nature, to create an us vs. Them,
Invent an enemy, a territory to defend.
Delineation, by the god you recognize,
Hate laced agendas, with a righteousness disguise.
Delineation, by the gender we prefer,
Imposing bias based on ways that never were.
Delineation, by the color of your skin,
Passed each generation, by some weakness from within.
Delineation, by the borders that we draw,
Restricting occupation, by some arbitrary laws.
We are just human, every one of us with flaws,
Exposed, endangered, to the reach of hatred’s jaws.
