"As Simply Deep’s digital only releases slowly start to fizzle down, we welcome UK artist Podo for our 31st EP release. Staying true to our usual fashion this is another release which has been in the works for several years and has now been perfected and is ready to unleash on the masses.

‘Percy’ is a Dubstep/Grime hybrid release, borrowing structural templates from Dubstep and sound design more accustomed to Grime tracks. The selling point of this release is Podo’s ability to keep the songs fresh until the very last phrase of music – Basslines don’t conform to the same sound for long, LFOs differ, filters switch up, the same Bassline you heard four bars ago has now evolved into a new monster.

On remix duties we have Tik&Borrow & Luciv, Dubzta and Aerotonin, all choosing to remix the track ‘Ruined Record’. Tik&Borrow & Luciv take a deeper route than the original, using the female vocals to create a new moody imagining of the track. Dubzta realises the energetic potential behind the samples and takes the classic choppy Grime route with his remix. Simply Deep’s own Aerotonin returns to the label for the first time since 2018 with his ‘4am Grime Vibes’ rendition of Ruined Record – switching between Grime and Bassline influences every 16 bars.

This release packs a punch and would fit any high energy set in the dance. Play with caution."
