Channelling Piazzolla by simon whetham
This is the soundtrack of a video piece that was presented at Museum Eicas, Deventer, NL from 23rd September 2023 as part of the group project 'Transtonations' curated by Tanja Isbarn.
Various versions of Piazzolla's "Tango Étude No.5" were played through/by a collection of motors and mechanisms salvaged from obsolete technology in response to the composer's own ideas regarding including new instruments to revolutionise Argentinian tango, such as saxophone and electric guitar, and innovative forms of harmonic and melodic structure into the traditional tango ensemble.
