Isolation Tapes by WINGO, shinkawasaki
A remote, organic collaboration between two former bandmates and longtime friends, noted L.A. synthesizerist/producer Wingo Shackleford and singer/guitarist/producer shinkawasaki.
Recorded and mixed during the spring, summer and fall of 2020, to a backdrop of increasing civil unrest, universal despair and uncertainty, these sonic explorations reflect the inner depths plumbed while in an indeterminate isolation and seek to provide uplifting respite from the banal monotony of such an unexpected state of being.
Part self care exercise, part distraction, part meditation, these divergent ambient abstractions came together naturally as one provided the context for the other's improvisation, filling in the tonal and conceptual blank. The resulting recordings showcase the organic quality of synthesizer/acoustic instrument mixture and melodic/dissonant dichotomy.
