In using a combination of classic vapor styling and a collection of nature-themed field recordings, these split EPs build a world around the listener that feels rough, yet realized. A rough sketch of reality, composed to evoke a world of our own within our minds.
The first half, ベクトル地球, has a heavier focus on the aforementioned field recordings, using them to their fullest potential to bring the listener into sprawling, natural settings. Tracks are generally longer to enrich the listener in what they are building, without taking too much of a focus away from the music and journey itself.
Conversely, the second EP focuses more on more concrete, more concise loops. The instrumentation is heavily varied and feels more mechanic, closer to city life as reflected in its title, ベクトル都市 (Vector City). While shorter, the sample choices themselves are often interesting and laden with cassette hiss to offset the lesser focus on ambience, helping build a drearier look through its composition.
This piece is excellent as a whole, and a fine addition to anyone's collection of music and inspiration.
