Field Mulch by Megzbow and Vinegar Tom

Succumb to the churning liquid landscape of deepest Pembrokeshire with ‘Field Mulch’, a droning collage from improvised sound duo Megzbow and Vinegar Tom. Following on from the duo’s 2023 release ‘Welsh Noise Vol II’, ‘Field Mulch’ documents a live session captured at London’s much-mourned IKLECTIK.

Across eight tracks, ‘Field Mulch’ reanimates ‘WN Vol II’s heat-treated field recordings, marrying them with an array of improvised clatterings. Brandy glass drones and farmyard cowbells meld with hydrophonic microphones submerged in pails of water and knackered synths transmitting from the bottom of the well.

The result is an expanded pasture inside the preternatural pastoral, wherein familiar sounds assume new meanings before sinking back into the soil
