Aluxes by Sequences
Spectral images shuttled to a crackling sound. Split seas and forked lightning. Images of light, living cosmologies. A life of shadows, concealed. Hunger for the past, the present unfolds.
In 2022 I embarked on a cycling trip through the south of Mexico, for more than 120 days I cycled from south to east, from north to west, along the Gulf of Mexico and the Pacific Ocean. As a ‘peregrino’ (as they call it over there) I went from one site of Maya ruins to the next, through jungle, mountains & desert. Notebook, camera and audio recorder always on hand. Two wheels, a tent and always searching for something to eat. Alone or with other travellers looking for the paths less trodden.
On the lookout for ancient lay-lines while composing a spiritual autobiography. The field recordings I collected ended up on all of the tracks of this album, alongside processed sounds from guitar, tape loops & modular synthesizer. The result is ‘Aluxes’, a found catalogue of memories.

All field recordings on Aluxes recorded while traveling through the states of Quintana Roo, Yucatan, Campeche, Tabasco, Veracruz, Oaxaca and Chiapas in México between November 2022 and March 2023.
Performed using guitar, zither, magnetophone and eurorack modular system.
