Ablutio EP by Seodophy

XVI Records are proud to present their latest signing, Lithuanian Bassist & Producer Seodophy. Currently based in the capital city of Vilnius, having moved home after studying in the UK for 3 years - Seodophy (AKA Teodoras Balciauskis) now prepares to unveil his emotive and sprawling EP ‘Ablutio’. Having been mixed by 2- time Grammy award-winning engineer Eric Lau, ‘Ablutio’ creates an astounding and unique sound, a enveloping and evolving listening experience, summoning essences of Post Rock, Jazz and Electronica across it’s four tracks.

With a central theme of Alchemy at its core, Teodoras creates his own Magnum Opus, which in keeping with the practice itself, is explored here in a four part process. These quarterly segments are communicated in the compositions through musical language – as the EP progresses, the music becomes lighter and clearer, as traditional structures disintegrate in the process, as dark turns to light, and lead to gold. Opening with the haunting notes of first single ‘Dark Nebula’ , the stage becomes set for the journey that is to follow, as complex and intertwining bass motifs weave a beautiful and beguiling portrait, punctuated by elegant flute motifs - adding a touch of brightness into the chasm. Title track ‘Ablutio’ is a more laid back affair, as intriguing bass chords are joine by laid-back lo-fi -esque beat. Second single “Solar Dawn” bursts the haze with intricate melodic lines, and vast percussive soundscapes. Further animated by the uplifting guitar solo (courtesy of Waxamilion) and glistening drum skills of Yami Maho brings a sense of optimism, darkness still lurks in the deep recesses. Finally “Iosis” is a captivating finale, steadily intensifying before fading into the ether. In essence, ‘Ablutio’ is a stunningly cinematic listen, an impressive offering from a talented young newcomer.

Seodophy is the solo project of Lithuanian bassist and producer Teodoras Balčiauskis, blending nu-jazz, post-rock, and electronic textures. Led by the bass guitar, his music moves between urgency and calm, weaving layered instrumentation, dynamic rhythms, and detailed production into immersive, wordless narratives shaped by personal experience.
