WHITE LABELS by selec

"Clancy & I were privileged to be part of a scene that only lasted a few years in Iowa city where the hip hop, house, techno & drum & bass folks were all hanging together & trading samples & stories, & the furious 5 parties had all that music on the same night for one audience.

Just for a minute there it was like being where all the tributaries met and the various colors swirled together like the Missouri & the Mississippi.

It was a small, local scene but all anyone has really is their own hometown scene. Big things are always happening elsewhere, & you can take that in. But music is like beer, it's fresher when it's being made nearby. Think globally but dance locally.

So that's the sound of this Selec release. Reimagining that moment when anything seemed possible, & everyone made surprising connections. Making something new with skills & knowledge he didn't have back in the day. He captures that time when every day new wonders came to be.

Don't call it a comeback, don't call it nostalgia, call it deep knowledge that time travels."
