Avenir is a guided visualization, navigating a territory that is part autobiography, part Rules for Engagement—and throughout, a reflection on ethos, aesthetics, how values differ and why, and the problem of conduct—trying desperately one last time to make a break for the capital of the free world, where the language of diplomacy is spoken. Elliott is a Portland, Oregon-based artist. "For at least twenty years now I have always wanted to have an audio tour experience— like with those museum "phone" things— for guests at my art shows. Since for the foreseeable future I'm taking a break from painting, I might as well just make audio tours instead."
