This is the first lyric I wrote when I moved to Nashville in 1995. No job. No home. And absolutely no clue how to get anyone to listen to my music. I still experience that same strange combination of despair and hope sometimes. Even when things look bleak, there’s great comfort in knowing God is with us.

Under the silver moon, and in the still of night
