Island by Scott Ampleford

Throughout 2020 I was deep in conversation with Alisa Stern about our next collaboration. Our previous film Sum Of Its Parts was doing well on the festival circuit and due to both of our countries being in lockdown, it was proving difficult to come up with a project that could be done under those circumstances.
In July, Alisa began to outline an idea for a small, intimate film that encapsulated her feelings of isolation. I responded immediately to the idea and we began to craft a script.
Spurred on by Alisa's concept and channeling my own feelings of social detachment, I laid down these five demos.

Leaning in to ambient electronics and the processing of natural sounds, Island is an exploration of texture and space that ultimately opened the door to new and exciting sonic projects.
