Signal //// Dirt represents the end of a trilogy of themed genre albums from The Ambient EP and Drone Music For Spaceflight. Intending to go out on a disorientating noisy and industrial route is a mashup of two EPs: one focused on Noise/Field Recordings (Signal to Noise to Scream Tuber) and the other focused on Synth Metal. It's two EPs fused together as an album due to distribution services not making it easy to split an album as two parts and general laziness.

Signal (tracks 1-8) was recorded from a variety of field recordings in various places in California, Maryland (for some reason) and Delaware (for some other, disturbed, reason). Not much was added for these recordings other than some basic compression.Track 8 ("Scream Tuber") was an original composition and not a field recording, though it was inspired by the earlier tracks.

Dirt (tracks 9-15) was recorded over the course of 2025 and some recordings from 2024. A 'Synth Metal" EP designed to make metal but with synths. No guitars were used in this recording, believe it or not. I've always wanted to make heavier stuff, so here was the results of that. Moving A Mountain was released, dry, from the 2023 March Synth Jam Experiments, and I added some drums and other post production tricks to make Moving A Mountain a formal song, that recording inspired the rest of the EP's formation.
