This live recording was made in 2003 during a tour funded by the Danish Jazz Fund.
We played seven gigs in seven days; three in London, one at the legendary Klinker where Sture and I played to Martin’s Super 8 films, one at a strange ‘happening’ near Spitalfields Market, and the gig from which this recording is taken, at the Bohman brothers equally legendary concert series at the Bonnington Café in Vauxhall Grove. We also played in Manchester, Lancaster, Liverpool (at the Frakture festival of Improvised Music supporting a duo of Derek Bailey and Otomo Yoshihide, who we memorably joined for a quintet performance at the end of the concert) and a final performance in Sheffield at ‘Room at the Top’ (Mick Beck’s house), which has the added bonus of a beautiful pub just down the road.
During the tour Sture and Martin were treated to such English traditions as the Replacement Bus Service, English Breakfast (“you're going to eat that now?!") a Saturday night in Liverpool (“don’t look at anyone on the way back to the hotel“) and a Rugby match (the sight of which caused much hilarity). I on the other hand, as part of this cultural exchange, had to listen to seemingly endless discussions about Ice Hockey matches between Sweden and Czechoslovakia from the 1960s and 1970s.
