We crossed paths several times, in different formations, before this recording. Our first rehearsals took place in May 2023 when Ilia was passing through Zürich, where Jason and Alex are based.
These recordings were made in February 2024 in Serbia during our first tour. We spent the first day in Belgrade, to play a concert, and then three days recording in Novi Sad and then a final gig at the Rusinski Kulturni Centar Matka.

Ilia Belorukov is a musician from Saint Petersburg, Russia. He works in improvised, noise and electroacoustic music. Ilia practices an experimental approach to sound extraction using saxophone, modular synthesizers and other instruments. His works have been released on labels such as Clean Feed, SOFA, Moving Furniture, Astral Spirits, Notice Recordings, Raw Tonk, Mikroton, scatterArchive and many others. He founded the Intonema label and was one of curators of the Spina!Rec label. He has organized events in Saint Petersburg and elsewhere in Russia, and co-curated the Teni Zvuka and Spina!Fest festivals. Recent activities include writing reviews and articles (for the Jazzist website and as 'musicworm' on the Telegram channel) and working as a mixing and mastering engineer for projects with different musicians and labels. Since 2022, Ilia is based in Novi Sad, Serbia and he is a member of kuda.org.

Jason Kahn is a musician, artist and writer. He lives in Zürich. As an electronic musician, guitarist, vocalist and percussionist Kahn collaborates with many international musicians in the context of free improvised music. He has composed numerous electroacoustic pieces and written graphic scores for specific groups and musicians. His work can be heard on over two hundred solo, collaborative and compilation releases. Kahn's installations and interventions have been shown internationally in museums, galleries, art spaces and public sites. Written work has appeared in books, magazines and as liner notes to many audio publications. Other activities include sound pieces for radio, film, dance and theatre. He has also designed numerous CD, LP and cassette covers. In 2011 Kahn started the Editions imprint to publish his own recordings and writings.

Alex Riva has developed a distinctive way of playing on various recorders. As a self-taught improviser and a conceptual musician, he's active in free improvisation and underground scenes. In 2019, Popkredit Zürich enabled him to spend 3 months in Varanasi (India), where he recorded his playing mainly outdoors with background noises. His album 'Solos and More' was recorded with the singer Bindhumalini at Studio 304 in Bangalore. With the unpredictable trio ZGB (Dario Fariello saxophones and Mikael Szafirowski e-guitar), Alex has played more than 70 international concerts since 2015. The duo Irlumb with Dominik Blum (analogue synthesizers) became a trio in 2017 with Mark Kilchenmann (on contrabassoon): Kilirlumb. His latest project is Vava Maudit with the drummer Gabriel Valtchev. Currently, Alex Riva plays with, among others, Ilia Belorukov (saxophone, modular synth), Yukari (flute), Marina Mello Andrade (harp), Silvan Schmid (trumpet), Pablo Lienhard (crackle synth). He also works with dancers, visual artists and filmmakers.
