Ancestral by Clelia
San Beulah is a sonic collage, built from fragments of sound—YouTube samples, home recordings, and Splice loops—stitched together into something new. A mix of nostalgia and experimentation, the music blends found textures with original compositions, shaping raw materials into evolving soundscapes.
The latest album is a reaction to the tension of October 2023. Whether it was a good idea or not, it channeled the chaos pouring in from every direction—conversations, the news, the overwhelming sense that we’ve been living in a doomsday era for far too long. This music captures that tension, drawing from personal reflections on what past generations endured, what we continue to witness, and the cycles that define human life.
It’s an edgy exploration using soundscapes—both organic and digital—to process the never-ending bullshit. Most of the vocals were recorded in a shower—that was my studio. That and my MacBook Pro speaker. Like that one piece my friend Noah (who passed from cancer) created: a man sitting in a chair, bombarded by a blast of information from his phone. The message, ironically shared in a digital format, was simple—unplug.
