Limit Aspect (2025) is an immense sonic swirl like the weather on a gas giant.
The work was created as part of a series of explorations of complex harmony and polyphonic density edging on pure noise, rigorously structured and created using an original C++ software program.
At any given point, an average of 88 voices may be active, each slowly progressing from a fundamental pitch to an individual goal pitch and back again in trajectories lasting between six and sixty minutes, with each modulating its loudness, harmonic complexity (occasionally producing aliasing artifacts), spatial position and vibrato. An intensely layered sound of many acoustic phenomena and harmonic changes results, a swirling mass within which voices and details continuously emerge and recede again.
