DONKEY ISLAND by Sam Knutson

Starting in the teens we recorded a ton of stuff in the basement at Todd's. Andrew and me stayed up late and drank and played with tape machines. The songs were strong and I was still coming down from the Iowa Opera House Project. Everyone I asked to play just said yes. No question. People came in and stuck stuff in one take: people from the bluegrass world and pop bands and then my life took me in another direction. I walked away from it. Then I was not in any way busy during the Pandy so we went back to work recording. It was like turning on an old machine. It started and ran.
Everyone involved hit it out of the park, even when they were supposed to pop fly out to get a guy home. Homers. All homers.
