Orphic Purrs by Ruby Oland

Soon after Orpheus and Eurydice are married, she is bit by a snake and is cast down to the underworld. Orpheus bravely attempts to retrieve her from Hades's grasp. Hades's is sympathetic towards Orpheus and his love, and allows him to bring his wife back to life if he promises not to look back at her as they emerge from the underworld. As they surface, Orpheus, overcome with curiosity and passion, looks back. Eurydice is pulled back into the underworld for all eternity.
