When will you tell me your secrets?
I have been dying to know
Where you left all your footprints,
Under the fresh fallen snow?
They lead to that cabin you see
Lost in the pines
And though the footprints are yours
They lead to something that's mine

Once it seemed there was nothing
I wished to conceal
My love for you turned into something
Like pride or like zeal
And it shined like the light
Of fifty summer suns
It shined, it made itself clear
To each and everyone

Now I cling to my shadows,
They hide my secret property
And I constantly follow
Wherever it is that they lead me
Into the darkest of woods
Where no man has ever walked
To preserve my perishing goods
To cache my winter stock
